Qalipu First Nation Economic Development Strategy
Conach Consulting partnered with the Qalipu Mi’kmaq First Nation to develop a long-term Economic Development Strategy that supports sustainable growth, employment,and business opportunity across its communities. The strategy was built through acollaborative engagement process involving Elders, community leaders, and economicstakeholders, and it reflects QMFN’s cultural values, governance priorities, and visionfor economic independence. The process included regional consultations, marketassessments, and identification of emerging opportunities in sectors such as tourism,energy, fisheries, and entrepreneurship.
The resulting strategy provided a clear framework for action, with short-, medium-, and long-term goals aligned with QMFN’s capacity and aspirations. It included recommendations for organizational restructuring, capacity building, and partnership development to ensure the Nation is well-positioned to lead and benefit from future economic initiatives. This project demonstrates how inclusive, culturally grounded planning can translate community priorities into actionable, impactful strategies.
