CJAY Strategic Planning and Transition to Family Treatment Model

Conach Consulting supported the Charles J. Andrew Youth Restoration Centre (CJAY) in Sheshatshiu, Labrador through a pivotal strategic planning process as it transitioned from an individual youth treatment program to a comprehensive Family Treatment Model. The planning session brought together Board members representing Innu, Inuit, and First Nations communities to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats, and to align future operations with cultural values and therapeutic needs. The process reinforced the Centre’s mission to empower Indigenous youth through holistic, land-based, and culturally integrated healing, and emphasized its nationally unique approach to shared cultural programming.
Key deliverables included a detailed SWOT analysis, stakeholder engagement strategy, human resource development priorities, and an implementation roadmap for the new model. Conach provided guidance on operational restructuring, staff training in FASD and CBT, infrastructure planning to support family accommodation, and enhanced communication through digital platforms. The resulting plan positioned CJAY to lead in Indigenous family-based addictions treatment, with a focus on sustainability, governance renewal, and broader provincial and national partnerships.
