EagleQuest Tourism Strategy Report

Designing a World-Class Indigenous Tourism Destination
Conach Consulting collaborated with the Miawpukek First Nation to develop EagleQuest, a visionary, five-year tourism strategy that positions Conne River as an international Indigenous tourism destination. The strategy includes the revitalization of existing businesses—such as crafts, outfitting, and air services—and the creation of new eco-adventure and cultural tourism experiences rooted in Mi’kmaq heritage. A dedicated tourism corporation, EagleQuest, was proposed to oversee operations, manage training programs, and launch immersive experiences including sea kayaking, spirit canoe tours, and traditional healing ceremonies. The plan also outlines the development of a new resort accommodations facility and visitor hub at the McDonald’s Site.
Holistic Development for Culture, Employment, and Growth
The EagleQuest strategy emphasizes sustainability, economic diversification, and cultural preservation, with targeted marketing toward high-value tourism segments in North America. It identifies phased infrastructure improvements, detailed human resource needs, and a $13 million capital investment plan supported by internal and external funding sources. This project exemplifies Conach Consulting’s strength in integrating Indigenous values with business planning, tourism development, and community-driven revitalization. It sets the foundation for long-term growth, cultural renewal, and regional collaboration across Newfoundland and Labrador’s Coast of Bays region.
